Cannon auto repair

Most vehicle owners would rather not be surprised or taken back as to 'when' their vehicle will give up. Choosing a reliable and trustworthy auto shop for regular vehicle maintenance is important if you depend on your vehicle on a daily basis. You need a vehicle that will start when you want it to and one that will take you to your next destination in comfort.

Unless you have taken an auto repair course recently, it's tricky to know when it's time to take your vehicle to an auto center for certain services. Here are a few simple tips to help you:

AUTO SHOP TIPS -

  • Look at the vehicle's owner's manual to get a good idea of what is needed; oil changes, belt replacements, inspections, and parts replacements, before going to the auto center.
  • If you purchased a used vehicle and you're not sure of its service history, ask for a basic maintenance inspection. The mechanic can advise you of any recommended repairs following that inspection.
  • Be careful of what you ask for. Many people, including some auto shops, mistake a "tune-up," which mainly pertains to the engine management systems, with a "routine maintenance inspection," which pertains to the entire vehicle. Don't waste money on unnecessary repairs.
  • If you don't ask for it, you probably aren't going to get it. It's not unusual for customers to ask for only an oil change, and then ask if everything else is O.K. with their car!
  • Listen attentively to the auto shop professional, and don't be reluctant to ask pertinent questions about indications of wear and tear to anticipate future preventive maintenance.
  • If your vehicle is still under factory warranty, and you wish to have it serviced at an independent facility, make sure that it's licensed and that their mechanics are certified so that your new car warranty is not voided.

Taking your vehicle to a reputable auto shop is time and money well spent. It's an investment in the reliability of your vehicle. Time and more costly repairs will be averted in the long run.
