Cannon auto repair

The days are getting warmer, which means most people will be starting to use their car’s air conditioner more often. Whether for a summer road trip or just for your short commute to work, you want to be cool and comfortable. If you haven’t done so already after the close of winter, it’s not too late to schedule a car AC service with a certified technician.

So why doesn’t your car AC cool you down like it’s supposed to do? Cracks (no matter how small) and loose connections may occur in the AC unit as it endures constant stress from the heat of the engine, road debris, dirt, and vibrations, quick stops, or hitting an obstacle in the road or a curb, allowing the refrigerant to leak out. Or, the condenser may be blocked, a fan may be broken, or there may be faulty electrical connections.

Air conditioning systems work on the principle that as refrigerant is compressed and cooled, and then allowed to expand in a repeating cycle, it will get very cold. If the compressor is unable to create a high enough pressure, the refrigerant cannot be cooled. This could be caused by a clog or block in the system allowing the refrigerant to decompress.

Your certified technician may recommend car AC service twice a year—in the fall after summer’s hot temperatures, and then in the spring after winter’s harsh temperatures. At the very least, schedule a car AC service once a year. You will benefit from improved fuel economy, a more environmentally-friendly vehicle, and a cool and comfortable trip.

Wondering why doesn’t your car AC cool you down? Contact our ASE Certified Technicians at Cannon Auto Repair today for more information about car AC service and to schedule an appointment. Our auto shop serves vehicle owners in Cannon Falls, MN, and the surrounding areas.
