Cannon auto repair

It’s a fact that many auto repair shops see drivers bringing in cars that may not have been serviced as frequently as needed at the appropriate intervals. That is a scary thought when thinking of all the cars on the road that may need some form of auto repair services. With busy schedules, it is easy to forget how many miles it was since that last oil change, or if it is time for a tune up.

The signs below are indicators that certain auto repair services are needed for your vehicle. Don’t ignore these signs:

  • Dashboard warning lights. Your car's onboard diagnostic system is essential to keeping your vehicle operating efficiently. Flashing or blinking warning lights or check engine light should be addressed as soon as possible.
  • Oil spots under the car. Dark brown oil spots on your garage floor or driveway indicate your vehicle is leaking motor oil. The problem could be as minor as an oil filter or drain plug not secured tightly or as major as a compromised gasket in the engine.
  • Greenish fluid under the car. This means your car is leaking radiator fluid. It could be a small issue like a bad fitting on a hose that leads to or from the main radiator body or a major issue such as a cracked radiator. This could cause permanent engine damage by overheating.
  • Noisy Brakes. When brake pads near the end of their service life, they may emit a high-pitch squeal or squeak. Squealing, squeaking, or metal-on-metal grinding sounds can also indicate that rotors, calipers, and discs have become worn out.
  • Louder than normal operation, rumbling or sputtering from beneath the car. This usually indicates a problem with the exhaust system. It could be as minor as a hole or disconnected pipe or something more serious such as a bad muffler or catalytic converter.
  • Chirping or screeching from under the hood. Drive belts, also known as serpentine belts, direct engine power to accessory systems like the power steering or AC. These belts become frayed or brittle or glazed as they wear, which can then cause a chirping or screeching sound, especially on start-up.
  • Humming, growling or roaring when driving. Your tires may be worn or deformed, or you could have a bad wheel bearing.

Remember: Putting off simply needed auto repair services can quickly cause more costly damage.
